Too Few Spectators

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) recently released its guidelines for the number of spectators who can attend high school sporting events this fall. While we understand the need to be extremely cautious, the number of spectators allowed by the NCHSAA at fall events is far too restrictive.

According to the NCHSAA, the number of spectators is 100 for an outdoor event and 25 for an indoor event. The guidelines also stipulate that schools must select “the lesser of (i) 100 people per field, (ii) 30 percent of facility's fire capacity or (iii) 7 people per 1,000 sq...
