Fighting The Trash Pandemic Locally Makes An Impact

We, as citizens of Transylvania County, should be immensely proud of how we have worked together to keep our county's COVID-19 numbers down this summer. A quick look shows an infection rate of somewhere around 1 percent based on our population. Keep in mind outside visitation to our county can easily be above 3 million. DuPont State Recreational Forest estimates about 1 million of that just there. We have been fortunate. The county is an outdoor destination, and there's no better place to be during a pandemic than outside.

But with expanded use comes issues and consequences.
