Cathey's Creek Community Center

In the Bible Mission didn't meet this past Sunday. The community center was getting ready for the election on Tuesday, Nov. 3. They will be there this upcoming Sunday. Join them with singing and preaching, with Rev. Pete Lee.

New Hope Baptist Church

On Sunday, Nov. 8, the church will hold an ordination service for Pastor Lee Patrick, newly elected pastor of the church. The service will be at 4 p.m. at New Hope. The church is pleased to have him and his family.

The Window

Me and Bullet were looking out the door the other morning just enjoying the fall colors. He was probably watching for a squirrel, when a small whirlwind came across the yard whipping up the leaves. It was a joy to watch the leaves dancing around and around as they were picked up by the wind. It was over about as soon as it started. You know, Bullet is my grand dog. He stays with me while his humans are at work. Old farmer's saying: A bumblebee is considerable faster than a John Deere tractor.

Birthday

Happy birthday to Eddie Gravely on Nov. 5. He will be 75, thanking God for each day. Happy birthday to Zach Farnham on Nov. 9 and to Cameron Whitmire on Nov. 12.

Prayers

Praying for our country and our military. Remember firefighters, law enforcement officers, medical personnel and clergy. Pray for nursing home residents, who are missing family, their presence and a touch would mean so much to them. Praying for people with COVID-19 and for a cure soon.

History

I came across a picture in an old Cathey's Creek scrapbook, 1976, of several Cathey's Creek residents who were working the polls at the community center. It was Nov. 2, 1976. Jimmy Carter was running against incumbent president Gerald Ford. We know the rest of the story.
