Mars Fading But Not Forgotten

We are still experiencing that beautiful march of the three visible outer planets in the evening sky. The red planet Mars is well up in the east after sunset. It passed through its opposition and closest approach to the earth early last month so is now on its journey away from us to return in late 2022. As it departs, it is no longer brighter than the giant Jupiter as it was in October.
