Richard Michael Slonecker

Richard Michael Slonecker, 61, of Lake Toxaway, beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend and “Pops,” passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his father, CWO Robert K. Slonecker.

Born in Illinois June 9, 1959, he was a self-proclaimed “Army brat.” He lived in many different places throughout his childhood, both here in the United States as well as Japan.

He was a carpenter, or as he’d like to say, “wood tick,” for over 40 years. He was very passionate about music and was a talented musician. He played the bass for many bands throughout his life. He had a love of flying airplanes, riding his Harley, playing golf, going to NASCAR races, and spending time with all his many friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Darla Slonecker, of Balsam Grove; son, James Slonecker, of Lake Toxaway; daughter, Nikki Snyder and husband, Richard, of Leonardtown, Md .; daughter, Cassie Morgan and husband, Scotty, of Lake Toxaway; and eight beautiful grandchildren, Cayden, Raegan, Colby, Landon, Zachary, Nathaniel, Natalie and Ella; mother, Lola Slonecker, of Charlotte, N.C .; brothers, Robert “Bob” Slonecker, of Charlotte, and Ronnie Slonecker, of Florida; sister, Laura Slonecker-Jenkins, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
