Making Critical Business Decisions

Last updated 11/9/2020 at 3:45pm

Since COVID-19 became a major part of our lives, every organization, whether it is for profit or nonprofit, has been forced to adapt and to make changes in their business, operations and customer engagement. With winter and what appears to be COVID-19 resurgence underway, continued assessment and adaptation are critical for successful business outcomes.

In some situations, new markets and new ways of serving customers have increased business, while increasing operating costs. In others, due to disruptions in the customer and market base, viability itself becomes a consideration.

Locally, we have seen the impact to our restaurants, to music venues and events, to travel and tourism and to health care providers, among many others; again, some have been impacted very negatively, while others have seen business increase. As the SCORE branch manager, I have seen many organizations and companies struggling during this period and some are facing difficult decisions over the coming months.

To support for-profit businesses and nonprofits during this stormy period, SCORE is offering a workshop at no charge to facilitate an assessment to determine the current health of the business, options to increase resilience of the business and, if needed, viability assessment. Three outstanding facilitators and presenters will lead the workshop.

We welcome any and all organizations to join SCORE for the workshop on “COVID Course Directions” to complete their assessment and consider options for the future on Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. A supporting workbook will be available for all attendees to complete the “health check” of their own business or nonprofit. As always, SCORE volunteer mentors are available to support clients as they seek to start, grow or assess their business or nonprofit.
