Carolina Water Service, Inc., of North Carolina (CWSNC) had a discharge of untreated wastewater from its Connestee Falls system from the main sewer lift station of approximately 119,000 gallons, according to a press release from the company. The discharge occurred between Nov. 6 and Nov. 7 and entered Carson’s Creek.

The bypass of wastewater was the result of a failure in the wastewater treatment plant’s alarm notification system, according to the press release. Staff notified the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality. Staff conducted the required testing upstream and downstream of this discharge.

This notice was required by North Carolina General Statutes Article 21, Chapter 143.215C.
