The Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Brevard Police Department, arrested a 41-year-old man following a police chase from downtown Brevard to the Transylvania/Henderson county line on U.S. 64 Tuesday morning.

Suspect Timothy Lee Hernandez was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 10, around noon, after officers recognized Hernandez in his vehicle and attempted to pull him over for an outstanding felony warrant.

According to Chief Deputy Eddie Gunter, Hernandez then allegedly attempted to flee arrest and escape the arresting officers.

A chase ensued, and ultimately ended near the Henderson County line where Hernandez was arrested.

In the process of the chase, Hernandez also hit another vehicle.

He was charged with felony hit and run and flee to elude arrest for Tuesday’s events on top of a failure to appear charge, which is what his outstanding warrant was on.

Hernandez is currently in custody at the county detention center under a $51,000 secured bond.
