Love Of Jeeps Links Two Childhood Friends

Curators and board members at the Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas are bustling to set the stage for an important new acquisition, which will add depth and historic perspective to the museum's extensive collection.

Two stories comprise the narrative of this exciting and generous donation: the legend of a renowned WWII hero, and the lifelong friendship of two teenaged boys.

Story 1: The Hodads Two

Phil Mayrand and Ken Dawson met in Explorer Scouts at ages 12 and 13. The mischievous Winston-Salem boys became fast-friends – camping, hiking, diving and spending holidays together....
