Three Local Veterans Receive Quilts Of Valor

The quilts just keep on coming - pandemic or no pandemic. Members of the Blue Ridge Chapter of Quilts of Valor presented handmade patriotic quilts to honor three veterans on Nov. 19 at the Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas.

J.D. Bolt served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard/ Reserves and the U.S. Air Force and Air Force National Guard/Reserves. Bolt served in the Army Corps of Engineers with the 72nd Engineer Combat Company. He was awarded a Bronze Star medal with a commendation letter including: "He fearlessl...
