James Gordon Crawford

James Gordon Crawford, of Brevard, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020, at his home.
Born in Alma, Mich., he was the son of Fredrick W. Crawford and Ella (Eleanor) May Doane. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Alma College in 1951, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in microbiology and biochemistry in 1953 and 1955 respectively, from the University of Michigan.
He served in the Public Health Service at National Institutes of Health working on the safety testing of the Salk polio vaccine. He joined Pfizer, Inc. in 1958, where he was part of the team to successfully produce the first commercial...
