Mildred (Mid) Melton Galloway Watson

Mildred (Mid) Melton Galloway Watson, 90, of Brevard passed away Nov. 24, 2020, after several months of declining health.
She was the daughter of the late Carrie and Witcher Moss Melton, and was also predeceased by her brothers, Buddy Melton (Susan) and Glenn Melton (Joyce), and her sisters, Bernice Babb (Kenneth), Lois Layne (Ed), and Bobbie Huggins (Jack). She was the widow of first, Tom Galloway, and second, Tom Watson.
Survivors are her son, Tom Galloway, of Seattle, Wash; her daughter, Carrie Galloway, of Winston-Salem, N.C .; her stepson, Tom Watson, of Prairieville, La .; and her sister-in-law, Susan Melton Klopp, of Brevard. She also had two granddaughters, Jessica Blackstock (Logan) and Ansley Blackstock, and one great-granddaughter, Bryn Blackstock, all of Winston-Salem, N.C., along with many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Most recently residing at College Walk, she was originally from Rutherfordton, moving to Brevard at around age 10. She was a Brevard resident for the rest of her life, except for her education at Greensboro College, and an eight-year period in Charlotte in the 1960s and early 1970s.
A devout member of First United Methodist Church, where she served on the board of trustees, she was also a longtime member and past president of Brevard Garden Club and the Wednesday Book Club. She loved reading, made wonderful family and holiday meals, and enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, and having pimento cheese sandwiches at Rocky’s.
Funeral arrangements are delayed due to the pandemic.
