New Home Construction Popping Up In City Neighborhoods – Brevard, NC

Frequently during City Council meetings a comment will be made that Brevard is growing.

In the past few years, new home construction, or infill, seems to be regularly popping up in existing neighborhoods.

Because of the challenging landscape of steep slopes, floodplains, and the cost of expanding water and sewer lines, the city uses infill, which the city’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) defines as “new development that is sited on vacant or undeveloped land within the jurisdiction … and that is enclosed by other types of development that are already served by public infrastruc...
