Virus Forces Brevard Ballet To Take A Last Bow – Brevard, NC

At the close of Brevard Ballet's presentation of "The Nutcracker" last year, director Angie Wells and choreographer Thomas Shoemaker reflected on the major step forward that production had taken over its previous seven incarnations.

"How will we ever top this year?" Wells said they wondered.

Unfortunately, they didn't have a chance to find out.

Due to the pandemic, all in-person ballet classes were replaced by Zoom classes in the spring, and the beloved Christmas show was canceled.

The latest casualty of the pandemic is the Brevard location of the ballet school itself.
