Transylvania County’s jobless rate in November was 4.9 percent, up from 4.7 percent the previous month, according to preliminary figures from the state Department of Commerce.
The local jobless numbers only take into account those who qualify for unemployment benefits and have not been seasonally adjusted.
The statewide rate in November was 6.1 percent, up from 6 percent the previous month.
Jobless rates increased in 76 of the state’s 100 counties in November, decreased in six and remained unchanged in 18.
