Mary Edna Leopard, 99, of Brevard, widow of John Parker Leopard, passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021.

Born in Franklin, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William Z. McCall and Essie Hedden McCall.

She retired from Sangamo in Pickens, S.C., and enjoyed sitting on her sunporch, knitting, quilting and the outdoors, while tending to her vegetable garden.

She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Powell Schmidt, of Anderson, S.C., Shirley Geitner, of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Brenda Myers Hohstadt, of Brevard; grandchildren, Sheila P. Summey (Hamp), Jynene P. Burgess (Johnny), Angie P. Hall (Tommy), and their families, all of Pickens, Charlene P. Mayfield (Walter), of Anderson, Leigh Ann Baron (Russ) and family, of Longwood, Fla., Bradley Leopard and Kelly L. Baker; numerous great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Parker Eugene Leopard.

A family service was held Monday, Jan. 11, 2021. She was laid to rest in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Pisgah Forest.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Meals on Wheels of Brevard and the Assurance Program with the local Sheriff’s Dept., as well as the entire staff of The Retreat in Easley, S.C., and Brookdale Hospice, for their patience and tender care of their loved one over the last few months.
