Dot Bryson

I was so sorry to hear of Dot Bryson passing away. She was a wonderful person, with a great sense of humor. Dorothy “Dot” Jean Waldrop Bryson passed away on Jan. 4. She was 91 years old. A graveside service was held on Jan. 10. No service was held. Her husband of 55 years, Guy, preceded her in death. She leaves behind her three children, Carolyn, Lance and Phyllis, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who all adored and loved her and will miss her greatly. Remember the family and her friends in your prayers.

New Hope Baptist Church

Last Sunday evening at New Hope we had a Gideon speaker, Danny Shook, who talked to us about what the Gideons do: providing the written word of God to people around the world. I am sure everyone has seen the Gideon-placed Bibles in hotel rooms, hospitals and other places. One time several years ago I was sitting in the waiting room of a doctor’s office and picked up one of the Gideon-placed Bibles and was reading it. A man sitting near by asked, “Do people really read those?” Some do. Some do not. It is a choice, but these Bibles are there to those who do.

Prayers for friends and neighbors, who have and getting over “the virus.” COVID-19 has touched so many people. Some it has made very sick and some only with mild symptoms. Some have not recovered. Pray for a cure really soon,

The Window

There are mountains all around us, and I enjoy looking at them – one to the North of me was pretty this morning. Fog was just hovering in the tops of the trees, with just a touch of sunlight shinning on it. The other morning, when it was so cold, it looked like the fog was frozen in the tops of the trees. Winter may seem bleak and dreary but it also has its beauty, like the recent snow, which coated the tree limbs the other day.

Happy birthday to Sam Farnham on Jan. 14. He will turn a big 4 years old.
