Thanks For Phase 1B Of Vaccination

My husband and I, both over the age of 75, were fortunate enough to sign up for the first round of Transylvania’s Moderna COVID-19, Phase 1b vaccinations, administered this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Rogow Room at the library. We were both impressed by the efficiency of the staffing of the vaccination center and the not unusual Transylvania County friendliness and care taken with each individual arriving for their given appointment.
We received our vaccinations Thursday evening and neither of us felt even a needle prick. After a 15-minute, no-reaction wait period following the shots, we were given our follow-up appointments and left for home. The whole process took about 20 minutes. It’s now Sunday and the only reaction has been a slight tenderness around the vaccination area, much the same as the flu vaccine. We were actually pleased to have some indication that we had actually been given the vaccination!
Our thanks to the Transylvania County Health Department and volunteers for a smooth rollout of the first public shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine. I imagine they learned from this first process and the second one will leave many more Transylvania County residents as appreciative as we are.
