14th County Resident Dies Of Virus – Transylvania County, NC

On Friday, Transylvania Public Health reported a 14th county resident had died from COVID-19. Today, Transylvania Public Health reported 44 additional cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, for a total of 1,498 cases among county residents since the pandemic started.

As of today, 137 county residents were in isolation for COVID-19 (within 10 days of symptom onset or 10 days of a positive test) and 102 cases had been reported within the past seven days.

A total of 196 cases of COVID-19 and nine deaths have been associated with outbreaks at skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in Transylvania County since the start of the pandemic. Of these, five cases of COVID-19 (two residents and three employees) have been identified in the outbreak at Cedar Mountain House; 30 cases of COVID-19 (18 residents and 12 employees) have been identified in the outbreak at the College Walk assisted living facility; 60 cases (41 residents and 19 employees) and two deaths have been identified in the outbreak at Kingsbridge House; and 14 cases (two residents and 12 employees) and one death have been associated with the ongoing outbreak at The Oaks. This total also includes four cases of COVID-19 associated with a previous outbreak at The Oaks and 83 cases associated with a previous outbreak at Accordius Health at Brevard.
