Spectator Capacity Mandate Stays In Place For Football

Whether it’s the cheering after a big play, the booing at a perceived slight by the officiating crew or chants being led by the cheerleaders, football stadiums under the Friday night lights will be eerily quiet this season.

In keeping with the restrictions handed down by the N.C. High School Athletic Association, only 100 spectators will be allowed to watch contests, with most every conference keeping attendance rights exclusive to the home team.

The capacity restrictions have been in place since prep sports returned under the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic last fall.
