The Bad and The Good

The U.S. reached a grim milestone this week as the death toll from COVID-19 surpassed 500,000. More Americans have lost their lives to COVID-19 in just a year than those who lost their lives in combat in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War combined. In more modern terms, the COVID-19 deaths are comparable to a Sept. 11, 2001, attack occurring every day for six months.

The sad thing is that many of these deaths could have been prevented if people had believed the epidemiologists and medical experts. Many of the first 100,000 deaths that occurred by the end of May last year may...
