Time To Tackle Transylvania's Trash – Transylvania County, NC

On the Old Asheville Highway, an Adopt A Highway sign sits on the opposite side of the road to this discarded refrigerator and other trash.

A community effort to pick up garbage on March 13 along Wilson Road has gained momentum that began with a "concerned citizen" and joins expanded efforts to tackle Transylvania trash.

"I just want our area to be beautiful and to attract tourists, so that we can enjoy our scenic landscape without trash being dumped on the sides of the road," said Luanne Allgood.

Allgood said she's noticed more roadside trash since the COVID-19 pandemic.
