State Lawmakers Critical Of Cooper's Bill Veto – Transylvania County, NC

State lawmakers who represent Transylvania County were critical of Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper after the N.C. Senate failed Monday to override the governor’s veto of Senate Bill 37, which would have assigned in-person learning alternatives in the state’s schools.

The 29-20 override vote was one vote short of the 3/5th majority needed.

According to a press release from Cooper’s office, he vetoed the bill because it violated the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services’ and the CDC’s guidelines, and “hinders local and state officials from protecting students and teachers duri...
