Citing the comedian Bill Maher’s distinction between a “show horse” and a “workhorse” in politics, a Democrat, Henry Waxman was presented in my previous column as an example of a work horse. His many years in Congress yielded legislation that benefited working class Americans. His Jewish faith informed his approach to politics.
