In The Bible Mission
In the Bible Mission meets every Sunday morning at the Cathey’s Creek Community Center, with singing and a preaching service, with the Rev. Pete Lee, starting at 11 a.m.
New Hope Baptist Church
The church lost one of its faithful members over the weekend. Wilda Stewart went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday night. Wilda and her husband, Gene, were favorite singers. Gene played the guitar, and they sang together. A couple of their favorite songs to sing were “Land Beyond the Stars” and “God on the Mountain.” Services for Wilda will be on Thursday, March 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church, located at 76 Goodneighbor Drive. Pastors Lee Patrick and Brad Snipes will conduct the service. Prayers for the family, their son, James, daughter-in-law, Jaclyn, and grandchildren. Wilda will be missed by all who loved her.
Loss Of Neighbor
Lois Durham passed away on Friday, March 12, at Transylvania Regional Hospital. Lois was 94 years old. She is survived by her sons, Gary Graham, of Brevard, and Donald Graham, of Alaska; and two grandchildren. No local service is planned. Prayers for her family.
Happy birthday to Erin Barton on March 22, and to Andrew Stills on March 25. Hope they have a blessed day. Remembering my best friend, Mary Lou Tucker, on Mach 27. She would have been 79. She was killed in an automobile accident on Sept. 1, 2020.
I hope everyone did better than I did last Sunday, when “spring forward” happened. Looking at the clock, I thought, I have plenty of time to get ready for church. Then I realized that that particular clock doesn’t automatically sets itself. We sure do get spoiled with automatic things.
The clump of daffodils that are blooming on the edge of the bank sure are pretty. Years ago, we were expanding the walk beside the house to make it roomier for my dad’s wheelchair, so we dug up all the dirt, flower bulbs and all, and dumped it all over the bank behind the house, filling in the slope. The next spring the daffodils came back and bloomed in the spring and have been doing so every year since.
