A year ago, last January, the first reported COVID-19 case appeared in the United States. Slow to catch on that this was a deadly virus, people began to realize as the cases mounted that we were in a pandemic. Adjustment has been taxing, to say the least. Every week we hear about the number of cases and how many have died from the virus.
As a result, if only fleetingly, we may consider our dying. At the ordinary level, we wonder if we or a family member might contract the virus and die.
When thoughts about death arise, we are afraid or disavow the possibility, though some welcome death...
