The following briefs are from the Thursday, April 1, 1971, edition of The Transylvania Times.

Brevard and Transylvania were blanketed with the heaviest snowfall of the year last Thursday, March 25, and Friday, March 26, with from six to 10 inches covering the town and county. Driving conditions were extremely hazardous. Automobiles without mud tires or chains found it almost impossible to navigate the streets and highways.
