Easter is Sunday, April 4. Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after spring equinox in the Northern hemisphere and the autumn equinox in the Southern hemisphere. Christians celebrate Easter in remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary.
In The Bible Mission
The Bible Mission meets every Sunday morning at the Cathey’s Creek Community Center, starting at 11 a.m., with singing and a preaching service with Rev. Pete Lee. This past Sunday, the church observed the Lord’s Supper. Visitors are welcome.
Prayers go out to the family and friends of Robert Galloway, who passed away on March 29, following a stroke.
Praying for the family of Donald Sprouse, who passed away on March 26. Donald was 81 years old. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Carr’s Hill Baptist Church on March 30. A veteran of the United States Army, military graveside rites will be conducted. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
Prayers for those in the hospital, hospice care, or who have injuries. Bless the caregivers, and remember law enforcement officers, firefighters, medical professionals and our military.
Susan Lambert celebrated her birthday on March 25. This past Sunday, her church, Cathey’s Creek Baptist Church, presented her with happy birthday greetings. Happy birthday to Vickie Johnson Hickman on April 3.
Easter Egg Hunt
Last Saturday, New Hope Baptist Church hosted an Easter Egg Hunt. There were not many children, but the half dozen we had sure did have fun. The rain held off until all the eggs were found. Pastor Lee told them the Easter Story, and the kids played games and ran all over the yard.
Rent The Cathey’s Creek Community Center
For information on renting the community center, please contact Joann Galloway at 883-3557. The community center is located at 131 Island Ford Road, off U.S. 64 west. It is also a Wi-Fi hotspot.
