Volunteers Being Sought For Park Project – Brevard, NC

Last Saturday, volunteers were busy for the first of three work days dedicated to creating a native plant garden next to the Tannery Skatepark off Silversteen Drive in Brevard. (Times photos by Alex Perri)

Saturday was the first of three workdays to create a native plant garden next to the Tannery Skatepark.

The project is a city/community collaborative project, with members of city staff, city council, the city Parks and Trails committee and community volunteers.

The group worked to plant 40 native shrubs Saturday morning.

The next workday will focus on adding native perennials to the garden.

Brevard City Councilwoman Maureen Copelof is looking for people who are willing to donate plants.

Any sun or part shade native plant would be appreciated, said Copelof.
