Arson Suspected In Rosman Area Fire – Rosman, NC

On Monday night, 20 junked cars and surrounding forest land off Dodson Road in the Rosman area were burned in what investigators suspect was arson.
According to Deputy Fire Marshall Scott Justus, the fire was called in approximately at 8 p.m., Monday, and the fire was contained around 11 p.m.
Justus said the Rosman Fire Department was the first to arrive on the scene, where it found “several acres of woods on fire, and some junk vehicles that were being used for salvage on fire as well.”
According to the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office incident report, 20 cars were burned. There were no structures burned, and no injuries reported. Multiple fire departments were involved in putting out the fire, in addition to the Rosman Fire Department, including the Lake Toxaway Fire Department, the Balsam Grove Fire Department and the Conesstee Fire Department, along with the N.C. Forest Service.
The Sheriff’s Office and the Fire Marshal’s office are conducting an investigation.
