Dual Justice Argument

One of the arguments put forth by District Attorney Greg Newman’s defense counsel last week is that if citizens of this district disagreed with Newman’s conduct they would have the opportunity to vote him out of office in 2022. This line of reasoning, which seems to be taking on more traction in the defense of public officials, disregards victims, undermines court evidence in favor of political popularity, and promotes a dual judicial system, if not lawlessness, corruption and authoritarianism.
