Frank Austin Stevens

Frank Austin Stevens, 85, of Lake Toxaway, died Feb. 10, 2021, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

He was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Raburn County, Ga., to the late Bruce A. Stevens and Maggie Harkins Stevens. His brother, James E. Stevens, also preceded him in death.

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving four years. He also served two years in the Merchant Marines.

He retired from the Ecusta paper plant with nearly 40 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening, and visiting his many friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Irene Clayton Stevens; daughter, Monique Flynn (David), of Pisgah Forest; son, Lt. Col. Michael A. Stevens (Lisa), of Brevard and Washington, D.C., and Macayle Stevens, of the home; three grandsons, Jared Flynn (Savannah), of Inman, S.C., Joshua Flynn (Alyssa), also of Inman, S.C., and Aaron Stevens, of Auburn University, in Auburn, Ala .; as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military rites will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2021, at North Toxaway Baptist Church and Life Center, where he was a member, and also was an ordained deacon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
