Average Property Values Have Increased By 17 Percent

On average, property values in Transylvania County have increased by 17 percent since 2016, according to Tax Administrator Jessica McCall.

The county recently completed its latest property value appraisal, which impacts how much an owner pays in taxes. The new reappraisal assessments are required by state law every four to eight years, though McCall said most counties are tying to get closer to the four-year cycle.
