Hotel's Ground Floor Square Footage Increased

A conditional zoning hearing for the site of the proposed hotel off North Broad and East Appletree streets closed with Brevard City Council approving an increase in “ground floor” square footage.

During its recent meeting, council approved the requested increase in maximum ground floor square footage from 25,000 to 45,000.

The applicant, Richard Ellison, an architect for the Brevard Hotel, had initially requested the 45,000 square feet of maximum ground floor area, but the downtown mixed-use zoning district only permits 25,000. This prompted the conditional rezoning hearing for the...
