A cyberattack on the Colonial Pipeline Company on Friday may increase gas prices and cause shortages in North Carolina and other states.
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) declared a regional state of emergency after the weekend ransomware attack.
The Colonial Pipeline, headquartered in Georgia, operates a 5,500-mile pipeline that delivers 45 percent of all fuel for the East Coast, transporting up to 100 million gallons a day from refineries along the Gulf Coast to New York.
