A recent letter to The Transylvania Times from Charles Brendle dared to question the assertion that our country is firmly in the grip of systemic racism. Predictably, a subsequent argumentative letter (“Another Example of Tone-Deaf Life…” May 6, 2021, Paul Morgan) viciously and condescendingly tried to refute Brendle’s opinion. That attempt failed.
That institutional racism has been a part of our national landscape in the past is a sad, well-established, commonly taught and acknowledged fact.
