In 1980, seven churches came together and started brainstorming on how to help people in crisis in Transylvania County – people who came to them hungry, cold, and living in desperate and desolate circumstances.

Those churches formed the Transylvania Christian Ministry, better known as Sharing House, and that mission continues today.

By opening day in 1981, the mission grew to 30 member churches that believed together they could help more individuals and families, more efficiently, by organizing to collectively meet their needs.
