First, think back to Aug. 21, 2017, when those of us in Brevard and nearby were treated to the most spectacular natural phenomenon – a total eclipse of the sun. What we saw then was the moon, in its monthly path around the earth, passing directly in front of the sun. Eclipses of the sun occur because the moon and the sun appear, from our vantage point on the earth, to be close to the same size.
