City Council Approves New Budget, Tax, Fee Hikes

On Monday, Brevard City Council approved its 2021/2022 fiscal year budget, which includes a 3-cent tax increase and hikes in garbage, water and sewer rates.

During May’s council meeting, Assistance Finance Director Tom Whitlock initially presented the $35.2 general million budget.

As previously reported, the budget, which goes into effect July 1, includes $7.7 million for water and sewer capital projects; $2.3 million in American Rescue Funds, $1 million for Estatoe Trail construction from the Depot Railroad Avenue Park to the Mary C. Jenkins Community Center site and Silversteen Park;...
