JoAnn Miller

JoAnn Miller, of Penrose, died Thursday, June 24, 2021 at her home.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Miller; her parents, Kenneth and Thelma Westall; and a brother, Harold Westall.

A native of Yancey County, she was a caregiver at heart. She was an avid reader, loved to quilt, sew, craft and paint. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and caring for those she loved.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jerry Lee Miller; two daughters, Kim Owen (Shannon), of Pisgah Forest, and Leigh Ann Allen (Todd), of Hendersonville; grand-daughters, Lauren Owen Ashe (Jalen), Emma Elms and Tiffany Allen, all of Hendersonville; grandsons, Seth Owen (Mackenzie) and Colton Allen, both of Hendersonville; a great-granddaughter, Gracie Ashe; a great-grandson, Owen Ashe; three brothers, Jackie Westall (Betty), of Dawson, Ga., Earl Westall (Nancy), of Mills River, and Johnny Westall, of Burnsville; one sister, Judy Banks (Charles), of Burnsville; two special sisters-in-law, Shelba Murdock (Gary) and Barbara Pittman, both of Burnsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There was a gathering of family and friends to remember and honor JoAnn held Sunday, June 27, 2021, from 2 – 4 p.m., at Turkey Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 805 Capps Road, in Pisgah Forest, NC.

A private graveside service was held at the Westall Cemetery Monday, June 28, at 11 a.m.
