Vaccine refusal is not new. Some years ago, a group of anxious and conscientious parents picked up on the flimsy evidence, later discredited, that there was an association between childhood vaccination and the development of autism.
They refused to vaccinate their children against common childhood diseases, thereby en-dangering not only their own children but many others.
