Rail Line Abandon Order Makes It Official

Last week, the federal Surface Transportation Board (STB) issued an order allowing the abandonment of the 19-mile rail line between Hendersonville and Brevard, known as the Ecusta Trail rail corridor.

In June, Blue Ridge Southern Railroad LLC and Ecusta Rails2Trails filed the request for the Notice of Interim Trail Use or Abandonment, which allows the Conserving Carolina to acquire the land along the rail corridor to be used as a “rails to trails” linear park.
