Senate Seeks State Funding For Conservation, Recreation

The N.C. Senate is proposing $100 million toward conservation and preservation efforts, plus the Parks and Recreation Fund. (Above) Gorges State Park is one of the jewels in North Carolina's natural environment.

Our state has always recognized the value of protecting land, even enshrining that into our State Constitution.

Article 14 Section 5 details the rights of North Carolina citizens to have unpolluted air and water, to have parks and scenic areas, and to "preserve a common heritage of this State its forests, wetlands, estuaries, beaches, historical sites, open lands, and places of beauty."
