Joseph Heller who wrote “Catch 22” quipped that, “Every writer I know has difficulty writing.” How apt! Every time I write a column for The Transylvania Times, I wish I could write a sparse, terse sentence with depth like Hemingway.
There are aspects of writing that come more easily for me. Putting quotation marks or a comma or semicolon where they belong requires thought but not a struggle. Sentence structure I can handle. Beginning a new paragraph can be a bit baffling for me but usually not a problem. I am too wordy. Condensing is challenging.
