Film Festival Honors Founder's Daughter

Tryon International Film Festival has renamed a film category that was unique to the worldwide film festival community to honor the co-founder’s daughter, who died in 2019 because of a drug overdose.

Since its beginning seven years ago, the Tryon festival has awarded deserving films in the category of “Human Rights and Dignity.”

Recently, members of the mountain community suggested the category be changed to “The Sabian Award for Human Rights and Dignity.” After the Board of Trustees’ consideration, the change was announced in early July 2021.
