Ingrid Findlay met fellow Transylvania County resident Marvin Holland years ago when he helped her for a high school project on bees. Neither of them knew at the time that Ingrid might help save his life.
Holland suffers from what he called a "life long chemical problem," meaning he worked as a superintendent for a golf course for 25 years, and his doctors think handling chemicals on the job may be what damaged his kidneys.
Holland said his kidney failure has been slow, happening over the last several years, but that he has reached a "breaking point" and now needs a transplant.
