Schools Wait To Hear From State On Masks

The Transylvania County Board of Education is waiting to hear from the state before making any decisions on mask wearing or vaccine protocols for the new school year, which begins Aug. 16.

(Gov. Roy Cooper was anticipated to address masking in schools during a news conference Wednesday afternoon after the paper is sent to be published.)

During its regular meeting Monday, the school board heard from two members of the public about the new school year, raising their concerns about any possible mandate regarding masks and vaccines.
