John Ditillo, of the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club, shows novice cyclist MJ Gordon, of Transylvania County Tourism, how to use the new bike repair station at the downtown Visitor Center.

The Brevard/Transylvania Visitor Center has a new addition – a bike repair station.

"Our cycling culture is important to our local economy and our appeal as a tourism destination, so we're always searching for ways to better serve that community," said Clark Lovelace, executive director of the Brevard/Transylvania Chamber and Transylvania County Tourism, which work together to make the Visitor Center possible. "Collaborating with the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club (BRBC) and the City of Brevard, Transylvania County Tourism and the Chamber were able to give cyclists a repair station convenient to them as they enjoy our downtown businesses."

The new bike repair station is the result of the combined effort of four organizations.

The site for the station is furnished by the Chamber, and funding for the purchase and upkeep of the station is provided by Transylvania County Tourism.

BRBC gave expert guidance in choosing the repair station best suited for this site and will oversee ongoing maintenance needs.

The Public Works team from the City of Brevard provided the know-how and labor for the installation.
