As a long time resident of Brevard, I care deeply about transparency in the approval process of subdivisions within the city of Brevard. As such, I am appealing a subdivision that was granted approval in April 2021 at 705 Probart St. to the Board of Adjustment (BOA), because four of the six approved lots create what is referred to as a “flag lot.” A flag lot, as defined by the UNC School of Government, “is a commonly regulated lot shape that is connected to the public right-of-way by a long narrow strip of land.” The city of Brevard Code of Ordinances, chapter 4.3 paragraph G, stat...
