Saving the Best for Last

On Aug. 3, John Dodson, a Dunn's Rock hiker, who used the trail name Driker, realized his long-held dream of completing the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine with an ascent up Mount Katahdin.

Driker said of the many mountains he climbed on the AT, Katahdin was one of the most incredible. The mountain, which at 5,268 feet, is above tree line, stands alone, with exceptional views of the surrounding forests and lakes, and features unique rock formations.
